What a new registration means

A carrier appears here once it has been added to the federal census with operating authority. New authority does not mean a carrier has finished onboarding, has insurance on file or has been reviewed for safety, so verify each company on the FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot. See the full Texas trucking companies directory for established carriers.

About this data

This post is compiled by the America’s Driving Force team from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Census, a public U.S. Department of Transportation dataset, queried September 29, 2026. Carriers are counted by the physical address on their federal record, so a national carrier appears under its home state. Only active for-hire carriers with operating authority are included; school bus, waste, towing, taxi and limousine operators, railroads and truck-rental fleets are excluded. Truck and driver counts are self-reported. Read the full method on the Texas page.
